DWS BURSARY PROGRAMME

APPLICATION FOR EXTERNAL BURSARY: FULL-TIME TERTIARY STUDIES 2025 ACADEMIC YEAR

BSc in Geohydrology

BSc in Environmental Management

BSc (Hons) in Hydrology

BSc (Hons) in Geohydrology

BSc (Hons) in Environmental and Water Sciences


Bursary Criteria

Bursaries will be allocated on the basis of a balanced consideration of the following factors:


  • Academic performance

  • Race and gender

  • Financial need

  • Need of DWS in reference of the specific qualifications



Successful applicants to the bursary scheme receive the following support:


  • Full tertiary registration and tuition costs

  • Residence and meal fees

  • Book allowance

  • An annual personal allowance


Obligations

DWS will require bursars who obtain their qualifications to join Water Learning Academy on a fixed term contract for a period of maximum of three (3) years.

Instructions:

1 Only use BLOCK LETTERS.

2 Only signed applications containing FULL PARTICULARS and all REqUIRED DOCUMENTS will be considered.

3 Mark appropriate block with .

4 Submit all application forms by email to bursaries@dws.gov.za.

5 Applications will open 01 May 2024 and the closing date is 30 September 2024. Applications received after this date will not be considered.

6 Information pertaining to the Department of Water and Sanitation external bursary can be found on the web page (http://www.dws.gov.za/LearningA).

7 Applicants that do not receive written communication within 3 months after the closing date should consider their application unsuccessful.

8 For 2025, the Department Water and Sanitation will consider applications ONLY for 1st year students studying towards the qualifications


COMPULSORY DOCUMENTS TO BE ATTACHED

1 Please attach Grade 12 certificate

2 If you have as yet not completed Grade 12, attached latest results (i.e. Grade 11 and/or first semester Grade 12 results)

3 Attach certified copy of ID

4 First time/new students: Attach copy of proof of application/provisional acceptance letter/firm offer from university

5 Hons students in first year please attach academic record of undergrad and proof acceptance for post graduate qualification.
