The Aim of Our Scholarship Programme
Our Scholarship Programme aims to develop a community of young leaders with an entrepreneurial outlook.
Applications are currently open until 15 September. Equipping the youth with entrepreneurial mindsets Our programme aims to produce a confident scholar with entrepreneurial thinking, unlocked potential, leadership qualities, a desire to create value, the ability to solve problems, an aspiration and intention to be a Fellow, an understanding of the culture of community and collaboration, and a positive attitude. The Scholarship Programme is designed to equip the youth with an entrepreneurial mindset to enable future generations to redress the inequalities of the past and to continue the economic and social transformation of Southern Africa. Potential is nurtured through mentorship The Programme fosters the curiosity and potential already exhibited by these learners through a combination of face-to-face, online and peer learning, as well as one-on-one interventions. The curricula of leading partner high schools are supplemented by mentorship, provided by a dedicated Programme Officer. Scholars complete the programme with an understanding of entrepreneurship and an appreciation of the culture of community and collaboration. They are inspired to create value as part of their entrepreneurial career and are looking forward to becoming Fellows.
Scholarship Application Requirements and Process
REQUIREMENTS
Applicant must be a current grade 6 learner in the year of application
Applicant must be a South African citizen
Applicant must not be older than 12 years of age and not younger than 11 years of age in grade 6
Applicant must demonstrate financial need
Applicant must obtain a minimum of 70 % for both English and Mathematics
Applicant must obtain a minimum overall average of 70% for all subjects
The applicant must demonstrate the following entrepreneurial characteristics:
Growth Mindset - the belief that one’s intelligence can be developed
Self-Efficacy - self-belief to achieve goals
Leadership - to positively lead and influence others
Opportunity Identification - the ability to identify opportunities of value
Curiosity - the ability to explore and discover new information
Problem-Solving - the ability to solve problems creatively
PROCESS
Submit a hard copy of your application form and supporting documentation or apply online
Successful applicants will be required to write the Foundation exam in Mathematics and English for grade 6
After the Foundation exam, successful candidates will be invited for interviews
Recommended candidates will be invited to the placement schools for interviews
Candidates whose recommendations are approved by the placement schools will be awarded the Scholarship
Once the Scholarship is awarded, the Foundation, placement school, and the Scholar’s custodian sign a Memorandum of Agreement
