PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To implement and maintain occupational hygiene programmes to ensure the health and safety of employees and to maintain the ISO17020 system to ensure legal compliance.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
NQF level 6 qualification in Occupational Hygiene.
NQF level 7 qualification in Occupational Hygiene will be a definite advantage.
SAIOH Technologist registration with Occupational Legal Knowledge certification essential.
Minimum of 3 to 5 years post qualification and SANAS / ISO 17020 management system experience.
Sound knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations including the OHS Act.
Knowledge of SANAS / ISO 17020 and sampling methodology.
Computer literacy, system management- and report writing skills.
Good communication-, interpersonal and time management skills.
Must be customer orientated, a team player with strong technical- and problem-solving skills.
Medically fit for both BMR and PMR
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILTIES:
Measure, monitor, evaluate and report on occupational hygiene stress factors and environmental conditions related to occupational hygiene.
Conduct all required occupational hygiene testing.
Conduct regular inspections & audits of the workplace environment to identify hazards and risks related to occupational hygiene and conduct case studies accordingly.
Participate in incident investigations and make recommendations of possible corrective / preventive measures.
Ensure ventilation systems are monitored continuously, and measurements are evaluated and reported.
Manage personal sampling programme and ensure legal requirements and company standards are adhered to.
Ensure control measures are implemented and supervise contractors where required.
Attend relevant meetings, control and manage expenditure against approved budget and maintain SANAS / ISO 17020 management systems.
Provide guidance and support to employees in terms of best occupational hygiene practice and conduct pregnancy assessments as per company policy.
