Job Purpose:
The role of the System Administrator at the Construction Education and Training Authority (CETA) is to ensure the smooth and secure operation of the organization's IT systems and infrastructure. The System Administrator is responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining all hardware, software, and network components to support CETA's mission-critical operations. By proactively addressing technical issues, implementing security measures, and optimizing system performance, the System Administrator plays a crucial role in enabling productivity and efficiency across the organization.
Responsibilities:
1. System Management and Maintenance:
- Manage and maintain CETA's IT systems, including servers, networks, operating systems, and databases.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as system updates, patches, backups, and system optimizations to ensure reliability and performance.
2. Security Management:
- Implement and enforce security measures to protect CETA's IT infrastructure from cybersecurity threats, unauthorized access, and data breaches.
- Monitor system logs, security alerts, and access controls to identify and mitigate security vulnerabilities proactively.
3. Issue Resolution and Troubleshooting:
- Respond promptly to technical issues and user-reported problems, diagnosing and resolving hardware, software, and network issues to minimize downtime.
- Utilize troubleshooting tools and techniques to identify root causes and implement effective solutions.
4. User Support and Training:
- Provide technical support and assistance to end-users, addressing inquiries, and resolving technical issues related to IT systems and applications.
- Conduct user training sessions and create documentation to promote IT best practices and enhance user proficiency.
5. System Documentation and Compliance:
- Maintain accurate documentation of system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting processes.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies related to IT systems and data security.
6. System Upgrades and Expansion:
- Plan and execute system upgrades, migrations, and expansions in collaboration with IT teams and stakeholders.
- Evaluate emerging technologies and recommend solutions to enhance system performance, scalability, and efficiency.
Requirements
Desired Skills, Experience and Competencies:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (preferred).
Proven experience as a System Administrator or similar role, managing IT systems and infrastructure.
Proficiency in operating systems (e.g., Windows Server, Linux), networking protocols, and database management systems.
Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues effectively.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, best practices, and tools for system protection.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to provide user support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator, CompTIA Network+) are a plus.

REMUNERATION AND BENEFITS
The appointment will be on a fixed term contract for a minimum of 18 months, subject to satisfactory performance as per Performance Policy of the CETA.
