Laboratory Assistant at AfriSAM for semiskilled candidates

VACANCY: LABORATORY ASSISTANT – NORTH WEST PROVINCE

Location: Reporting to the Works Chemist, the incumbent will be based at Dudfield Plant near Lichtenburg.


The successful candidate will be responsible for:

 Collecting accurate samples in accordance with sample schedules at specific assigned materials.

 Analysing samples collected and results reported in the prescribed format in order to enable internal customers to take remedial action to ensure quality requirements are met.

 Operating Laboratory equipment/instruments and doing first line maintenance and housekeeping.

 Ensuring compliance to Company policy, procedures and work instructions.

 Maintaining Safety, Health, Environmental & Quality standards

 Conducting routine and physical testing analysis in the laboratory

 Understanding and abiding to Good Laboratory Practises


Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience required:

 Grade 12

 Mathematics and/or Physical Science would be an added advantage.

 A chemistry qualification would be an advantage.

 Two years’ laboratory experience in cement or equivalent industry would be an advantage.

 Experience with XRF and XRD equipment would be an advantage.

 Basic understanding of laboratory equipment.

 Must be declared medically fit after medical examination
