Description Please note that only graduates from/around Bloemfontein/Qwaqawa will be considered for this opportunity. The purpose of the internship programme is to offer unemployed university graduates (diploma/degree) with no relevant work experience the opportunity to obtain practical workplace exposure and experience in their specified disciplines. This opportunity forms part of the Presidential Youth Employment Initiative (PYEI)-Higher Education Employment Initiative (HEEI), which forms part of the Presidential Employment Stimulus (PES), seeking to mitigate the devastating economic challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. Youth between the ages of 18 and 35, who are currently unemployed, not studying full time, nor receiving any form of a government grant (including NSFAS) and young people living with disability and women, are eligible and encouraged to apply for this enriching experience. Applicants in a debt repayment agreement for fees owed to the university may also apply. This opportunity is only available to South African Citizens and permanent residents. Duties and responsibilities:

  • Provide professional friendly customer service via email and telephone.

  • Assist with all registration-related activities.

  • Process registration forms.

  • Provide daily administrative support, including data capturing.

  • Ensure that all precautions for data confidentiality are maintained.

  • Identify missing data, inconsistencies and correct errors.

  • Handle general inquiries (telephonic, walk-in, written, and electronic).

  • Make use of the library FAQ’s website information and data sources in order to ensure consistent and accurate responses to customers.

  • Escalate complaints and non-standard queries to the appropriate line manager.

  • Ensure a one-day turnaround time in response to customer queries.

  • Assist with examination administration duties.

  • Work overtime as and when required.

  • Demonstrate data capturing speed and accuracy.

  • Accurate administration of academic records.

  • Interrogate registrations, deviations, recognitions, etc.

  • Evaluate if the student meets the criteria for registration, deregistration, recognitions or exemptions, progression in academic programme and completing the qualification, etc.

  • Monitor the entire student record administration and faculty processes to ensure consistency and ensuring. that any foreseen problems are prevented or mitigated.

  • Adhere to the policies, procedures and guidelines.

  • Attend and complete training sessions and workshops.

Inherent Job Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s degree or Advanced Diploma / B.Tech degree / Postgraduate Certificate on NQF level 7

  • Graduates between the ages of 18 and 35.

  • Not studying full time, classes preferably after hours.

  • Must be a South African citizen or permanent resident.

Recommendations:

  • Proficiency in MS Office

The following criteria apply to the selection of candidates:

  • Have not participated in any learnership / internship programme.

  • Willing to sign a learnership / internship agreement with the UFS.

  • Candidate must be available for a period of six (6) months.
