WIL Programme at SANBI for Horticulture, Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism Management students or graduates

Work-integrated learning (WIL) placement January 2025

Monthly stipend: R4 525.25

Closes: Friday, 08 November 2024


The South African National Biodiversity Institute (SANBI) is calling on second- and third-year students studying Horticulture, Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism Management to apply for work-integrated learning placement.

Placement will be from 1 January 2025 – 30 June 2025 (Horticulture and Eco Tourism) and 1 January 2025 – 31 December 2025 (Nature Conservation).


Placement opportunities are only available in the following fields and gardens:

Requirements: Second- and third-year Horticulture, Nature Conservation and Eco Tourism Management students who are self-motivated and enthusiastic are encouraged to apply. Good grades will be a strong advantage.

Students who have already graduated need NOT apply. Students must make their own arrangements for accommodation.

Ensure that all the below-mentioned documents are uploaded on the application form as failure to submit these documents will result in rejection of the application.  

  • A letter of interest

  • A CV

  • Your goals while training at SANBI

  • Letter of recommendation from lecturers/supervisors

  • Letter from university stating that you need to complete work-integrated learning (this letter must reflect 2025 placement)

  • Certified copies of your results

  • Certified copy of your ID

SANBI reserves the right not to fill these positions.
